Morning guys,

About 2 months ago i built myself a new PC with the following spec:-

Intel Core i5 3550 @3.3GHz
Gigabyte GA-Z77-D3H
16GB RAM (Crucial DDR3 1600Mhz Ballistix Sport Memory)
1TB Western Digital WD1001FALS Hard Drive SATA2 7200rpm 32mb cache
LiteOn iHAS124 24x DVD+-RW Drive

I built it to replace my previous Dell machine which i'd had for about 8 years so was in need of a upgrade. I decided to build myself as had never done it before and it was a lot cheaper, it would have cost me about £150 more at least to buy already built and i'm currently running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit OS on this.

I've also added two HDD's from my old Dell machine which are 1TB and 500GB in size into the new machine which have been working perfectly too. I mainly use this machine for web browsing, Games (Football Manager 2013), and downloading and eventually some web design once i learn more on how to do this.

I have noticed that when using any of the following applications to download:-

Grabit
Newsleecher (V4.0)
SABnzbd

that occasionally the computer will just hang without any warning halfway through my downloads. I only find out the following morning as i turn my downloads on just before i go to bed and if the applications allow i set them to shutdown the computer once the downloads have finished.

I did some googling on random crashes in Windows 7 Pro 64bit and found the following link, from this i installed the recommended hotfix from Microsoft and all seemed to be fine for a while. However last night i turned Newsleecher on to download before i went to bed, and this morning i check on the computer and it has hung again about half way through downloading.

I've checked in the event viewer logs and the last log entry before i reset the computer this morning is this:-

So what i'm now wondering is, whether the "WinHTTP Web Proxy Auto-Discovery Service" is causing this issue. I know i can disable it but don't want to disable it to then find other things fail to work if i can help it.

Has anyone on here got any knowledge on this at all?

Thanks,

Darren

I've rebuilt the PC again, Win 7 Pro 64 bit placed onto this and then all drivers installed from CD. I'll attempt to do a few big downloads tonight and see what happens.
