networking computors

i have 2 computors connected upusing netbuie,the problem being when accessing the net through the main computor,from the one upstairs,i keep getting timeout coming up,also slow connection speed.i am using broadband isdn cable line.any suggestions would be grateful.thanks

Hi m8. Its ok to use netBEUI to connect the two PC's together, as your home network. But to access the Internet you will need to configure TCP/IP as your network protocol, as netBEUI is not routable.

config system ok.using the main computor to access the net runs ok.still unable to solve the problem accessing the net with slave computor,still timeout and slow.anyone has any other ideas.thanks for your help diamond.

you will have to give your computer name to the DNS host in networking/tcpip(your network card)

you may also have to add the ip addys of the dns and wins servers
