Upcoming entertainment station ITV3 will be backed by a £20m budget when it launches at the end of this year, Broadcast reports this week.

Of the figure, around £12m will go towards programming and £8m for channel costs.

The new channel - aimed at the over-45s - will not be an archive channel like Granada Plus, which is to be wound down over the coming months.

Original lifestyle commissions will air in the daytime, while films from the Carlton library and repeats of key ITV1 dramas will run in primetime.

Some of the programming budget will also be spent on extended coverage of events like the Chelsea Flower Show, allowing viewers to switch over after an ITV1 broadcast for more.

Elsewhere, the broadcaster is "close" to agreeing a deal with either Nickelodeon or Disney to jointly run an 'ITV Kids' channel

ITV3 sounds a bit crap to be honest, if ITV2 is nythin to go by it will be crap lol!
