Hardware hp 3050a incompatible cartridge

I've had this printer over a year and it's been very reliable. I changed the cartridges couple of months ago with brand new hp 301 cartridges from Amazon direct, not a reseller.

All of a sudden it's throwing up an error saying incompatible black cartridge and page realignment process.

Printer will not perform any functions. I've cleaned the printer and cartridge contacts with distilled water and cotton bud and also powered off number of times...

I don't mind buying a new black but not sure if that will sort it, there may be another reason....??

Try these 2 common fixes first.

1. Take the cartridge back out and clean the contacts with a rubber.

2. Reset the printer :-Make sure the printer is turned on and pull the power cord out the back.
Leave it for 30secs then plug it back in.

Now power on and give it a try
