help with back up disk

hi, guys my hard drive has just packed in i bought a new one the problem is i can't find the the back up cd that came with the pc i have the windows licence.my question is can i use the backup disk from another pc has i want to put windows xp back on....any help appricated......thanx

The answer is generally no as the backup cd will contain specific drivers, amongst other things, for the pc it is intened for.

What make is the pc

Is it a RESTORE disk or a FULL OS disk if it's a restore disk you will not be able to do anything

You will have to update hardware drivers after installing windows from cd. Use license from original, which u have already.

Windows will try detect plug n play drivers, you will then have to identify video card, sound card, network etc and download drivers manually.
