Hi All

Looking to get into this for a bit of fun, mining Litecoins BUT i have NEVER built a PC before !!!!

This is gear i have -

Powercolor Radeon R9 280X 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (X3) - Powercolor Radeon R9 280X 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card [AXR9 280X 3GBD5-DHE]

EVGA SuperNova G2 1000W '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply - EVGA SuperNova G2 1000W '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply [120-G2-1000-XR]

Intel Celeron G1610 2.7GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - OEM - Intel Celeron G1610 2.7GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - OEM [Intel Celeron G1620]

Kingston HyperX Blu 2GB (1x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C9 1333MHz Single Channel Kit (KHX1333C9D3B1/2G) - Kingston HyperX Blu 2GB (1x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C9 1333MHz Single Channel Kit (KHX1333C9D3B1/2G) [KHX1333C9D3B1/2G]

Akasa AK-CC7118HP01 K25 Low Profile CPU Cooler - Akasa AK-CC7118HP01 K25 Low Profile CPU Cooler [AK-CC7118HP01]

I also have a spare 64Gb SSD drive and a copy of Windows 7 Home 64 bit.

Anyone done/doing this ? I plan on just plugging the 3 cards direct into the board ?

I am TOTALLY confused with the use of 'jumpers/extenders' for the graphics cards... I can see i jave 3 PCI-E x16 slots BUT how could i add extra cards ?

Looking to get either of these MB -

Nah, I can't be bothered even though I have a machine running 24x7 which I could add a couple of gfx cards to.

Using graphics cards now is out dated and has been for the last few months and will cost more in electricity than you would make in bit coins unfortunately.

If you are serious you will need specialized hardware costing more than i would like to spend nowadays with the uncertainty of bit coins future.

A few of the smaller units for ASIC mining ranging from 333Mh/s to 5GH/s are;

Bluefury
USB block erupter
Antminer
Bi-Fury

5GH/s is not a lot and you will probably never make your money back what you paid for the hashing power

Have fun but don't spend anything you can't afford to lose! Digital cash is unpredictable. Bitcoin was first, probabilities suggest something else will be the winner :)

It's only a bit of fun tbh, i'm not mining bitcoins but other crypocurrencies and converting them to bitcoins :)

Going to hold onto them and see what happens.

I could sell my extra GPU's in a month and a coin and it would EASILY pay for my new gaming system.

I just enjoy doing it, it's addictive...lol
