Help a disk read error occurred

Every time i switch on my pc it comes up with " a disk read error occurred " Why is this?, it only been going on the last two days, i have to turn it off then press f10 (system restore) when it starts up then go to exit, to get my pc to run.

mate what operating system are you using, does the HD make a noise? Is it a PC or laptop, Are you booting from CD/DVD or HD, can you enter bios, have you recently tried to flash bios, have you recently opened the PC/laptop and not fitted cables back properly,

Sounds to me like youve deleted something recently that is required on boot up.

try a system restore to a day before it all went wrong.

also try a disk scan to see if you have any bad sectors on your hard drive.

full scan including surface-errors.

this is probably a good time for that universal reminder to all:
harddrives are mechanical and fail - make regular backups, eventually you *will* be glad you did.
