Has anyone actually got streaming to a outside ip address to work??

Followed every guide i can find. Installed loads of programs and none work

They normally crash or stream it crappyily just on the lan....

Next thing is to get a squeeze box.

Think that you will struggle to get it to stream to an outside ip address, there is just to much information. As you have already experienced it is a struggle to get it to stream over lan.
Think that the best for lan is VLC (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/)and you would have to stream to computer and then encode to get it to an outside i.p. or use something like a slingbox.
