I all, just thought you people with dvd machines might be interested in this bit of info.
Speed on the DVD side of things is matched by its CD handling capabilities. It offers rewriting performance of 2.4x DVD+RW; 2x DVD-RW and 10x CD-RW, writing speeds are 16x CD-R, and it reads DVD-ROM at maximum 12x and CD-Rom at maximum 40x.
Optimally, it can write an hour's worth of DVD video in 15 minutes.
Andrew Wyllie, at NEC UK's Data Storage operation, said: 'Competing standards in the DVD re-writing market have left hardware manufacturers, dealers and consumers wondering which horse to back. The ND-1100A removes the guesswork once and for all, enabling end-users to create disks for play-back in virtually all DVD video players and DVD ROM drives with no compromise in performance.'
Also laudable is the fact that this is not new technology at a premium. The NEC MultiSpin ND-1100A will be available in UK shops from November at a penny under £250 including VAT.
It supports versions of Windows from 98Se and NT4.0 onwards.
This should sort out future problems in the future.
