Hi

any plumbers out there that can give me little advise, sister in law has just had here gas bill for winter months £470 now she told me here partner left the combi boiler on all the time, so i ask here what she had the temp set to and she couldn't tell me, so i said whats you thermostat set to in which she replied there isn't one its built in the boiler, OK this don't sound right to me she says it just stays on all the time.

anyway i ask her what was on boiler and she replied a timer, a valve for balancing water out and something for setting the hot water goes can be set to 65/70, and a clock but no thermostat that she can see, does this sound right i can't give you the make of the boiler yet she has to check but will post when i find out.

all seems odd to me surely there should be a thermostat on the stairs or landing somewhere.

No M8 - quite common to fit without and use TRVs on the radiators. I even seen them just balanced up on the radiator check valves and run on the boiler stat.

Easy retro-fit though and you can get decent wireless ones now :)

thanks for that m8 something i never come across before.
