Hi all,

I'm trying to burn some games but endlessly fails shortly after burning starts (gets up to max of about 5% complete)
Here's the log, can anyone see any issues?
I'm using DVD+R DL Verbs at 2.4 (i've tried other speeds also)
I've tried ImgBurn and CloneCD
Is it just a crappy burner I've got?

the burner your using is made by sony and nec so it isn't exactly crappy. all i can really tell you is that pioneers are the prefered burners for 360 games ( 116D or 216Dsata are the latest models). hope this helps.

i use the same burner mate no problems here but You could also try giving the drive a clean with a cleaning disc, update the DVD Burner with the latest firmware but i think most of the time that usually means the disc is bad, burn another and see if it happens again, you may have a bad batch of discs

Verbs are fine at 4x. What was the result with clonecd as it sets the layerbreak auto if launched from the .dvd file.

I used to have an NEC burner, and it was a little picky on disks. So that could be your issue mate.

well, i've gone and ordered another drive, why not, only £18. (Pioneer DVR-S18L)

I'll see how that goes.

If thats no good, I can send it back and get a refund.

After that... well, I'll be raiding all the rigs at work for one that works :)

I used to use NEC drives and they were great, then they went with Sony/NEC, maybe I had a bad drive but bought one, tried to upgrade the firmware with official from their website firmware and it failed to upgrade

The actually official firmware installer failed, and no matter what I tried would flash the drive, out of the box it refused to burn ANY CD/DVD, so I have avoided them now

I have used Pioneer and bought a Samsung SH-S203D even though my Pioneer was still burning great, the quality in burning was definately better compared to my Pioneer I was surprised by how much

So, my Pioneer is now in a tower I built out of spares for family and the Samsung is still burning great over 12 months later

The agrrevation I found was trying to find what media works with what XBox 360, this is very fussy. Some media doesn't like some consoles, yet others say what I tried worked perfectly but failed miserably for me

Once you find media that works, stick to it !!

And burn as slow as the media will allow, I burn my xbox discs at x4 with no issues and my wii media at x8, but have done x16 by accident with no issues

I don't buy cheap media, but it isn't expensive either, more high end middle quality

If I could afford Verbs or true Taiyo Yuden I would, but the costs can't be justified as what I use very very rarely fails. Failures are usually my fault, but I have had the odd faulty burn due to bad discs, maybe 1 or 2 out of a 100

what media do you use then scrapyard? just out of interest

anyhoo, installed new dvdwriter and flawless burn first time.
