LONDON (Alliance News) - BT Group PLC Tuesday outlined the pricing of its UEFA Champions League and Europa League coverage next season, saying it will be free for customers who take its BT TV service, but will cost GBP5 a month for BT Broadband customers.

The package pricing comes after BT won the right to show Uefa Champions League and Europa Cup games from next season, beating big rival Sky PLC to the rights. It is launching a new BT Sport Europe channel to show the games.

Access to the BT Sport channels via Sky will cost GBP13.50 per month, BT said.

Additionally, it will also launch an 'Ultra HD' 4K channel in Europe, BT Sport Ultra HD, in August as well as a BT TV Ultra HD set top box.

BT plans to make some matches available for free, available to non-subscribers, via a free-to-air channel on digital TV called BT Sport Showcase. This channel will show at least 12 Champions League matches and 14 Europa League matches.

BT's Champions League and Europa League coverage will be fronted by Gary Lineker, Jake Humphrey and Rio Ferdinand

BT: 26 FTA European matches free on Freeview

The new BT Sport Showcase channel, available to Freeview, EE TV and YouView users, will show at least 26 European football matches for free every season.

In a long-awaited announcement, BT has confirmed that the channel will show a "minimum of 12 UEFA Champions League matches and 14 UEFA Europa League matches."

It also confirmed that "each participating British team will be shown at least once. " This is in line with promises made by BT when the telecoms giant was announced as the successful bidder for the Champions and Europa League rights back in late 2013.

Getting BT Sport Showcase
BT Sport Showcase is available in standard definition and is currently on Freeview, EE TV and YouView channel 59. It is available to around 90% of the UK, who live in areas served by the full Freeview service.

It is broadcast on the same frequency as Spike (channel 31), 4 Music (channel 18) and RT (channel 135), so everyone who can receive these channels but who doesn't yet have BT Sport Showcase on channel 59 should retune their device.
