Hi everyone,
I am new here and not the most tech minded oldie around. Can someone help with guiding me to the right Technomate 5402 HD model.
I want one that goes up to the SR44000 range on Intelsat 907 - 27.5W, and able to access the BISS codes to add extra channel codes, for use in Europe when touring in the caravan.
The model I have in mind is a Technomate 5402HD C1+ Super+
It's a bit confusing with models such as M2 & M3 being bandied about.
There's a lot of talk about patches and downloads. Any help will be very much appreciated.

The 5402HD has three versions M1, M2 and M3, each one superseding the one before, so the newest model is the M3. Out of the box none of them will receive 27.5W as they have to be flashed with the appropriate patches, which are model specific, then the biss code can be entered to receive I907. Be careful, if you do not know what you are doing and flash the wrong patch you could end up bricking the box. Read through some of the threads on here and it is all explained.

Thanks dantis and maic01. That is a great help. I will browse the forum as you suggest. I was just a bit confused last evening as the model I am going to purchase - 5402HD C1+ Super+ - does not seem to mention whether its M1,2 or three, but if it will do for 27.5W and Astra then it is all I need.
I do have another question. Can this unit be used in a vertical position on one end? May seem an odd question, but it has to fit in a very small space in the caravan. Previous receivers have been OK there, but I think there is a fan involved in this one and I am wondering whether it will affect the balance.
Regards, Foxy

Had a look at the F3/5 and it appears to be ideal for my needs. Think I will go with that one.
Dantis, if you read this, I notice you are in Costa del Sol, which is about as far south as we will get with the caravan. My old 1.1mtr dish is a bit cumbersome, will an 80cm be fine in your area for 27.5W?
Also, has anyone had any experience using 27.5W on a mobile system? Will there be any issues setting it up every few days that I will not have had with Astra? I've been touring every winter for 14 years, so I'm quite used to cursing and kicking things in the rain trying to get a signal!
Cheers, Foxy

Not sure what you are going to use to line up IS907, if you use a meter remember that this bird is DVB S2 the meter you have been using to pull in Astra2 may not be suitable. A good tip is to lock Hispasat at 30°w and then nudge it back a few degrees. The tuner bars on the TM boxes are pretty good so you should get a nice lock if you preset the transponder.

Also you can't just scan in the channels, you need to manually enter the PIDS into the box. It's a long read but explains all in detail here

Many thanks SpeaBea for that info particularly the link. I've been going goggle eyed reading the threads. Interesting about the meter. Mine is a bog standard Lidl finest. 5 red lights and a sensitivity dial. 950-2150MHz. it has a switch 0dB and -6Db whatever that means. I have downloaded a sat finder to the phone, so hopefully, with your tips, the phone, the meter and my compass we will get there. If my meter is no good I will probably have to upgrade. It's about time anyway. I used to do the same thing with Astra 2. Moving campsite every few days I found the quickest way was to get Astra 1 (very easy) then down and left a bit to find Astra 2. Very low tech but seemed to work for me. I am never ceased to be amazed at the time taken to get a signal. Sometimes I would just plonk the dish down and point it in the general direction while I sorted out the compass & I'd get a shout from the caravan 'OK Got it!' Another time I could be out there half an hour trying to lock on. All the fun of camping though.
With regard to setting up the F3/5, the chap I'm buying from has offered to send it pre loaded with the patch and all set up for 27.5W and Astra 2 (for France). Seems too good to refuse such a kind offer.
Going to have a look at that link you sent now.
Cheers, Foxy

If you only want 27w go for the F3/5 which is smaller version of 5402 M3 and much cheaper.

Hello could I ask with the F3 or F5 where do the biss codes go ?? sorry never done one but have used Cccam and Mgcam.
thanks for any help.

Thanks for the help, so I guess there is a technomate F3 or F5 I will search thanks
