Hi all,

I know a few people wanted to know how the internal/external fans are working, so I have taken some pics & a vid showing how silent it is.

My DM800 clone has the default internal fan still installed (rotated when I took out my tuner to make it quieter), heatsink, Internal 320gb HDD & external USB fan.

Fan is from eBay for £8

Item Number: 120514089150

Pics coming up.......

Didn't realised it lit up, but it matches the LCD display, and can hardly be seen from a seated position.

Note, fan sucks hot air out of box

Temp ranges from 25 degree's to 28 degree's - not seen it above that (inc HD recording & viewing).

@chris
Does the fan stay on when in standby? i've got something similiar but it stays on when in standby

I have an exactly same fan as ChrisUK (no led light though), and I can tell you that it does stay on when in standby.

Yes it does.

I'm happy for it to still be on in Standby though as I like to put the box onto record while I'm playing on the Xbox or out etc.

Looks good, I might purchase! Is this good for orginal too? Will I need this for an original DM800?

I cant comment on the original mate (what temp you running at) ?

I know a lot of the guys with clones remove the internal fan though due to the noise - I just rotated mine & it cured the "problem". The vid shows how quiet the box now runs, and it's super cool :)

I'll check temp when I get home mate. I'll post on ehre and see if you think I still need a fan.

Had a quick look and HDD temp was about 50c I think! Is this high?

from what i remember mate general rule of thumb is to try and run HDD's under 40c. As with most components the cooler it runs the longer the life
