Just a heads up for anyone wanting a cheap but decent computer. These Celeron dual core's are decent performers and will suit 90% of all users. Just add it all to your basket and use super saver delivery for free delivery.

For just over £140 for the whole lot this is perfect for anyone wanting a brand new fast computer at rock bottom prices.

Obviously you will have to build it yourself and add an operating system but building is not hard, anyone in the PC section will help you along and you should be up and running within a few hours of taking delivery of the components.

All I need now is the know-how on how to stick it all together.. :Fish:

I bought a PC the other week from a company called BigPockets, £170 for:-

Intel Dual Core 3Gz (2 x 2Mb Cache)
2Gb RAM
250Gb HDD
DL DVD Writer
Keyboard, Mouse, Speakers
Vista Home Premium

Bankrupt stock. Cracking PC for the price but think they are now out of stock for good on them. Worth looking at www.bigpockets.co.uk though in case they get more in.

a friend after a decent cheap comp thanks for the info, will pass it on

Bargain mate, is that the core 2 or the old Pentium D? If it is a Core 2 at 3ghz then it is bargain of the century as the processor is £150 alone, albeit overpriced at £150 but that's what they cost all the same.

@digicol

nice post m8 will i be able to upgrade that processor to top of the range ? i've bought the bits :)

You want to have a look at scan.co.uk

they do today only offers. I find it hard to find the same parts cheaper elsewhere and if you live near Bolton you can collect from them and save on postage

good price but i find celeron terrible slow and pathetic from past experience.
limited cache size.

yep, i run a celeron on my second p.c and it runs very well.
Its a good setup for the price paid nobody said it would be up there with the alienware pc's :)
dont know if i had a dud but i used that sata dvd drive in the last p.c i built for a mate, bloody thing gave me nothing but trouble :( ended up going back to a ide drive.

Sorry for late reply, still without Internet connection!!!!!! Doing my head in, just asked for my MAC and signed up back to BT, less hassle, should be back up and running by end of the week.

Anyway yes you can put any socket 775 processor in that board, obviously that board only runs a 1066, if you were to buy the latest Intel Core 2 Duo 8 series they would run at 1066 instead of 1333mhz, maybe you could return the board and get a 1333mhz one.

I just listed that board because it suits the Celeron perfect for as little outlay on a persons pocket as possible.

But to answer your question, yes you can put any processor on that board as long as it is socket 775.

Here is an alternate board which runs at 1333mhz incase anyone wants to put a high end processor in the setup. It also overclocks pretty beefy considering it uses a chipset from the low end of the scale. Great little board from the reviews.

i just wondered which processor is top of the range for my board. the difference between 1066 and 1333 means nothing to me i'm used to slow computers :) cheers mate

Well that depends how much you want to spend and whether you will have any use for quad core.

Me personally I would go with an 8 series of Core 2 Duo, awesome processors for just over £100.

All what will happen is it will run a the bus at 1066mhz instead of 133mhz, I can see no reason why you will get any conflicts with those processors and that board, you may need a bios update at the very most, but for me it should just slot in and away you go.
