No matter what Vix 2.4 IMG build I use, I'm always losing connection from the internet, using that 1channel E2 streaming plugin, is quite an impossible task. can anyone offer any suggestions?

are you hardwired straight to router, or using homeplugs etc?

Ethernet straight to Router m8, say if I was to unplug the Ethernet cable and plug it into the laptop it will work straight away.

I presume you have tried an earlier image to double check it is the image thats causing the problem?

Can you go into the network settings and check their ok

What happens wiz is the internet picks and chooses when it works and when it doesn't, if I was to go into test internet connection, local gets a X IP address gets an X and name server gets a X. So I can't even FTP into the box.

Haven't tried an earlier IMG for a while although, when I was using VIX 2.3 can't remember having this problem

Process of elimination mate.. try an earlier image and then reflash to the image your using now... I have used 2.4 and had a lot of issues so perhaps it is that

What a pain in the ass though, but I'll give it a go

Cheers

strange, i've 2.4 on and never had any network problems. Can you get into your routers admin page and assign it a diff address e.g. 192.168.0.104 and then reboot everything and see if that makes a difference?

How long is the cable between the duo and the router? Should only be a problem if the cable is really long and I mention it as I had similar problems with my sons laptop which is at the end of a 25m run of cable. For me it turned out to be that the 3com 1gb switch I had didn't have the oomph to power the long network cables, I swapped out the switch for a Dell managed switch and he's never had any problem since with both his 25m lines that run to his room.

It was a bit of an arse clench moment TBH as the cables were run and buried in the walls as part of decorating his room and when they wouldn't work reliably I was like WTF, both can't be faulty can they?

What the strangest thing! I was using Mgcamd 1.38, and since I've stopped using it, everything has been fine not once had internet disconnect.

Sounds more like the cam was dropping and not your internet,
Glad your sorted m8 :)

Intresting , where was the X on the IP addresses on your router or on the VU DUO ?

Well it's all working now Wiz, and it was the internet connection.

Gsmtech router wasn't even giving it an IP address and X was in vu duo

Good to hear m8 but I cannot see how a cam could cause your internet connection to drop,
but thats not to say i dont believe you m8,I'm glad its sorted, honest :)

Baffled me too, thought Mgcamd might have been trying to send a log and causing IP flooding, but that option is disabled in config file.

I can't get mgcamd 1.35 working properly on my Duo clone. The cam randomly just stops and has to be restarted and if the box or enigma2 is restarted the cam doesn't auto-start even though it's set to auto-start. CCcam works fine though. Image I'm using is Vix2.4-151.

That's what happened to me m8, was with mgcamd 1.38, then i had the problems i posted about in this thread i tried mgcamd 1.35a and like you same same... Now with CCcam because that seams to work without problems although not a fan of CCcam.

if you press blue on vix, or go to softcam manager, on the softcam setup screen, press the epg button on remote (think its the info button on dreambox) it gives u your softcam logs.
I just had to restart the cam as mine just stopped at 20:34, it says Timer check enabled.
I noticed there's an option in Open Webif >>Vix>>Softcam Setup which lets you check for softcam freezes and on mine its set at 6 minutes. Maybe this is crashing the cam and could be turned off??
