is it against the law to send threatning messages through facebook ?

mate of mine is getting messages on facebook threatning 1ns
saying they seen him taking his daughter to school at a time he has .... he's bricking it . but dont want to make a dik out of himself going the police. the messages r saying he's asked about ppl .. but i even know this is crap.
he never goes any were ... bit off a hermit type.
Av seen some off them. and its weird like .they send them then disable there account so he cant reply.. av told him its a keyboard warrior.. take no notice but go the police even still ... he reckons they wont do anythink ???
any advice of u guys so i can show him this thread

I believe it's against the law, report the messages via Facebook, and depending on how severe they are, police can become involved and they should be able to track the IP of the sender, i remember an article or two about this, maybe they used the FB account info to nab the suspects or the IP, don't remember, but tell him to report it mate, no messing about when kids get involved

they all seem to be blagg proviles from wot he can see and me too. there set to the highest security .as soon as he blokes them they make a new 1. he has deleted his and his daughters f/b but he is still bricking it.. he aint got a clue wots it about. he dont go any were but the school in the morning and at three. feel sorry for him

If someone mentioned my kids and I knew who it was, I would batter them all over so they would never walk again.

If someone was threating my kids or even mentioning they knew where I walked them ? and I didnt know who they were I would phone the police straight away.

Sounds good mate, i know that even trolling on facebook can have consequences like that guy who was messing about on dead peoples' memorial pages. Hope it all goes well and make sure you tell him not to worry too much as i know he will be stressed a lot. Tell him that the main reason he shouldn't stress is because the twat who messaged him has no guts to come face to face.

If anything, deleting FB was a good move. If i had beef with someone, i wouldn't be sending anon FB messages then deactivating my account like a bitch, i'd be face to face with the person. It's probably someone who goes to his daughter's school, or another parent who's just a lowlife saddo with too much free time.

I have friends on facebook and no-one can find them cuz they can not be found then if they want to befriend anyone they can but they have to send the request. It's a shame he has had to deactivate his account cuz of this.

People can be Sooo crawl and not just kids. Adults can be just as bad if not worse.

lol .. they have come out and asked if they can have his user name and password he has given them it. they have told him to not to delete his account but dont log on .. he said he feels a lot better doing what he has done now .. in ringing the police ..thanks ppl al let u know what goes on
