Unable to burn dual layer dvd with nero ?

Trying to burn a 6826 mb file to a dual layer dvd with Nero 8.2.8.o on an acer asire 5920 and it throws up an error every time, anyone know hot to get it burnt ?

Is your dvd recorder a dual layer recorder ?
If not then that is the problem.

the kicker is the last post.

"I have the exact same DVD burner drive in my Acer Aspire 6920 notebook. I've been having the same problem, of not being able to burn Dual Layer discs. Even though the drive is advertised, on a product sticker stuck directly on the notebook, as a "DVD-Super Multi DL" (with the DL obviously standing for "Dual Layer"), it seems that this particular model of DVD burner does NOT support Dual Layer burning."

there's also lots of posts around about this particular drive but no fixes. folks have tried lots of different burner progs, blank disks and firmware upgrades. Really looks like it reads DL's but won't write them. Soz but i think your out of luck :grayno:

I know this thread is old but I believe I have the same problem. I have an Acer Aspire 4520 with a Slimtype DVD A DS8A1P burner that is supposed to burn dual layer discs but won't. I have tried Maxell and TDK and now have an abundant supply of blank DL discs that won't work. The optical drive burns CDs and DVDs but throws out error messages with DLs which among other things suggest I update my firmware. My firmware is CA11 and the utility I downloaded from lite-on website says the driver is up to date. I now strongly suspect that the burner is not able to burn DLs although the user manual and sticker on the laptop clearly states DL. Can anyone confirm this? thanks.
