'Voice of golf' Alliss dies at 89

Yeah golf wont be the same. There's certain commentators that as a kid their voice becomes iconic within sport and it resonates, Harry Carpenter been one. I remember when Tyson fought Bruno and Bruno knocked him back , Carpenter forgot himself from been a neutral and shouted out
GO ON FRANK !!!
Alliss and the likes Carpenter will leave legacies like Murray Walker who still going at the grand old age of 97. A good commentator can make a any sport interesting.

Listen to Carlton Kirby I think he's brillaint, 5-6 hours at a time and always interesting never a dull word (Eurosport Cycling)

Peter Alliss hats off to you
