Right here goes, I have:
acer aspire one netbook (atom cpu), win7, newsleecher

I cant get download rates higher than 1.6-2MB/s it seems cpu overhead related, switch to my desktop and it has no problem with 3.6MB/s on a 30MB connection.

cpu on netbook goes up to about 90% avg.

any ideas.

Use yer desktop?
HH.

If you are using wireless, try plugging in LAN cable and see if that makes any difference

can get 6MB/s using my HP mini210, Win7 and sabnzbd and CPU is not maxed out so I am guessing there is some background process running which is causing the problem. Also as gad suggests, what speed do you get hardwired to router ?

netbook is just for in the bedroom, whilst I have to trape to another room for the desktop.

netbook is connected at 300/150.

Not tries the LAN cable option but I am convinced it linked to the high cpu load.

only thing is i am usually watching something with VLC at the same time.

So have you tried it without running VLC at the same time ?

Also I would put sabnzbd on your desktop. Its web based you you can remotely control it from your netbook. Better still if you use nzbmatrix or a couple of other indexing sites, it can link directly into your account on the index site and do one click downloads without having to mess about using nzb files.
