Mi box s almost unusable

Hi guys, all of a sudden my mi box s has become incredibly slow. Vlc can hardly start and other apps take ages to open. I've reset the box and tried again but no better. Any ideas? It was a cracking little box a few days ago and now I feel like chucking it.

Any help would be great

would check for malware as a starting point maybe a dodgy app installed

If a full factory reset removing all data is not fixing the issue you could re-flash the firmware.
Not sure what Gen box you have.
This is for gen 1 hard reset all your data removed. Re-flash is a bit more complicated. So try hard reset first if you have Gen 1 Mi box S
The buttons you hold are menu and back buttons.
