Japanese Knotweed

Can anyone tell me if this is Japanese knot weed?


Some pictures i see online look just like it but other blogs are saying it looks purple at the stem. The leaves seem identical. Also its not suppose to flower till late summer but you can see this is in flower. Its grown in a barren area through plastic.

That's not Japanese knotweed which has wider leaves, the branch is soft to touch (except in winter when it hardens) and is mottled in colour with pink/purple next to where the leaf sprouts from the branch. Also it has white flowers in summer. See pic.

In some pictures i was looking at the flowers look similar to what i have so was really worried it was knotweed.

I would have also said Buddleia - apart from image 2 (I'm not sure just what that is !!)

I think image two the flower has died off.
