To celebrate the release of the must-see film, The Railway Man, the Telegraph has teamed up with Vintage, a Penguin Random House company, to offer readers a free copy of the best-selling book, written by Eric Lomax.
The Railway Man tells a powerful story of Eric Lomax, one of the thousands of Prisoners of War forced to work in the notorious Burma-Slam line, known as the Railway of Death, during the Second World War.
After years of grave suffering, Lomax met Patti Wallace, who was determined to help Lomax rid his demons. With her support, he was finally given the chance to confront one of his tormentors, fifty years after the terrible events.
The Railway Man is a story of innocence betrayed, and of survival and courage in the face of horror. The film will be open in cinemas across the UK on Friday, January 10, 2014 and the award-winning cast includes Colin Firth, Nicole Kidman and Jeremy Irvine.
