Hi,

Friend bought iphone 6 on ebay. Seller clearly stated is was broken (screen would not switch on) and phone was unlocked.

They got the screen repaired. Took it to EE they put a payg sim in and then told them the phone was blocked.

Does blocked mean stolen? or if its not stolen, is there a way to unblock it?

Its highly possible the phone was on contract and the bill was not paid, that's why the networks block em, but like you said it could also be stolen and the network blocked the iemi number.

Check the imei number on these type of sites
should tell you if reported stolen or not

How to find a phone's IMEI

There are several ways to find a phone's IMEI.
• Dial *#06# on the keypad
• Go to Settings, About device, Status, IMEI information, IMEI
• The IMEI should be printed either on the back of the phone or underneath the battery, if the rear is removable
• It will also be printed on the box it was sold in, provided you still have it
• If you still have the receipt for the phone the IMEI may also be printed here

if it has been sold as "broken, spares or repairs", i doubt he will get a refund.

If it's stolen paypal if you show that it's really a stolen phone should give you the totally of the money amount (don't hear partial refunds of seller, sometimes they try to do the trick). Maybe you have to send them some photos, be careful and do it before protection time ends
