There is very little about car light bulbs as a whole subject anywhere, I have driven Vauxhall's for many years and decided to do a guide about bulbs used in Vauxhall cars. However, the information that I compiled in the guide probably refers to most cars.
So although it is headed Vauxhall it should be helpful for most brands.

P21W Single Filament, In Line Pins Designation : Type 382

PY21W Single Filament, In Line Pins Designation : Type 581

PY21/5W Double Filament, Off Set Pins Designation : Type 380

P21/4W Double Filament, Off Set Pins Designation : Type 566

TW4 Single Filament, In Line Pins Designation : Type 233

434 Single Filament, In Line Pins Designation : Type H6W

Head Light Bulbs

Full Beam H1 Single Filament, 1 Pin, 22mm Base Designation : H1

Full and Low Beam H4 Double Filament, 3 Pins, 43mm Base Designation : H4

Low Beam H7 Single Filament, 2 Pins, 30mm Base Designation : H7

Halogen Headlights

Full and Low Beam H15 Double Filament, 3 Pins, 35mm Base Designation : H15

Full Beam HB3 Single Filament, 2 Pins, Right Angle 30mm Base : HB3

Low Beam HB4 Single Filament, 2 Pins, Right Angle 30mm Base : HB4


HID and Xenon
HID and Xenon Bulbs can be found in most Headlight sizes.

BUT they are only Road Legal in the UK if they are Factory Fitted.

LED Lights

LED Bulbs can be found in most of the above sizes.

BUT they are only Road Legal in the UK if they are Factory Fitted
Or they must be for Interior Use Only.
