What you going to paint it with @callmegoose?

Unless you have access to spraying I'd stay away from all Hammerite, it's a complete nightmare unless you're daubing it onto wrought iron railings or something. I refurbished a Bisley drawer cabinet using satin finish but had to spray it using a proper gun due to the paint thickness.

VW Diamond Black for the main body, and silver for the central tube and lights

using plasti-kote primer (for metal) and hycote paint and lacquer.

i dont touch hammerite...stuff is crap

Only using the black car paint on the body, the inner tube and holders are going to be silver paint as above (very high temperature)

And i'm using LED gu10 bulbs, so very little heat

cant say i'm entirely happy with this "silver" paint. and its a matt finish :-(

however i'm going to With it and hopefully it will look better with a few coats of lacquer

This does look better with 4 coats of lacquer, however it isn't the silver I was hoping for. Only time will tell if it goes will with the diamond pearlascent black paint I have for the main body

Well here is a few shots of the finished grey paint. Looks a lot better than what I initially thought against the black primer of the main body. can't wait to get the metallic pearlescent black on there and finish this bad boy!
