As the Scottish debate gets nastier by the minute, some facts...

Are you hacked off the the referendum debate

  • YES

    Votes: 13 81.3%
  • NO

    Votes: 3 18.8%

  • Total voters
    16
If you have investments in Scottish banks there is NO need to panic. A 'Yes' vote will NOT affect them this coming week - you'll have loads of time to move.

If you have shares (or other investments) in a Scottish company, the same applies. Companies that may be affected will take steps to protect themselves and shareholders.

Chill, it's a storm in a kilt :)

Hmm, talking of Scottish banks- where would this leave HBOS? Divorce?

Oh dear @nara my dislike was tounge in cheek mate, as was your comment ;)

That is not at all clear for a number of reasons but my original point was that the vote happens on Thursday, assuming it's a yes Independence would follow somewhat later. Until Independence negotiations are settled the banks will still be in the UK.

Reasons it is unclear revolve around tighter banking restrictions such as the need for protective mechanisms for customer deposits; the requirement that a bank be headquartered in the state it does most of its business etc. Of course, that's tied in with whether Scotland is in the EU or not and whether it has a currency union, joins the Euro or has its own currency.

Impossible to call at this stage.
