3ds and R4 newbie

Hi, this is my first post.
I am a newbie - tech wise, and 3ds wise!
My son had a ds lite, with a R4 card in it (revolution for DS (NDSL/NDS) pre laoded with games.
Last week, I bought a 3ds, and being new to all of this - just assumed card would work in new console. Obviously it doesn't. I have been searching on here, trying to find what I need to buy to get it to work (if it can be done.) But am none the wiser.
Could anybody tell me in very simple terms what I need to buy, and do, to get these to work.
the 3ds is version 4.2.0 - 9E.
(I still have the old console, if I need to do anything with that.)

you need a new cartrage and new software on your sd card
card wise i only use 2 types r43ds from R4 R4i SDHC Revolution for NDSi/NDSL/NDS R4i Cards R4 Cards

welcome to the forum m8..

there are many cards that will play on 3ds consoles.

my card of choice if the acekard2i. this card is updateable and seeing as you have a dslite for updating the card you will have no problem.

worth notigin that that acekard will play on 3ds v4.1 and below atm, will not play on v4

i would recommend:
1: buy an acekard2i
2: download latest firmware. AKAIO 1.8.9 - Downloads - Digital World Forums
3: download latest update file Firmware Update of AK2i for console 3DS3.0 and DSi - Downloads - Digital World Forums

extract both sets files , then copy the _aio folder , akmenu file and the update.nds file to root of sd card.

pop the card intyo your dsklite and update the card.

then DELETE the update file (to save any future accidents), add a few roms and test in your 3ds console....


btw, no card can play 3ds roms yet, only ds/dsi will work on your 3ds...
