I have been using Ebay since the dawn of time and have a feedback score of over 2000+
But its to the point where now i don't think i can use Ebay anymore due to the sheer amount of people abusing the Buyers Protection
Here is some of the things im experiencing:
Everything you sell on Ebay must have full tracking with a signature (not just tracking it has to have a signature) otherwise the 1st thing they will do is say its not come and then you have to give them a full refund. Ebay now charges its fees on postage as they know postage prices can sometimes cost more than the product itself!
Distance selling laws has made a mockery of Ebay. Anyone can win a auction and change their mind. there is nothing to make them pay or honor the agreement to buy. So as a buyer say you want to buy a PS4 you can set up 10 snipes on 10 different auctions and then only pay for the one you won which was the cheapest and there is nothing anyone can do to make them pay for the 9 other auctions they won. Then if they do buy the PS4 they have 14 days in which they can return it for no reason what so ever. This is fine for retailers who can return it to their suppliers for repackaging but when you sell something new and sealed and then its returned sometimes without even a fricking box!!! your item is devalued significantly as its no longer new. How can that be fair?
People claim its "not as described" so that you have to pay for them to return it! yes thats right if i buy anything on ebay and within 30 days decide i don't want it anymore i can Lie and say somethings wrong with it and the seller has to pay the return postage and then give me a full refund inc postage both ways. You could make up any reason at all like the buttons stick or it has a intermittent fault that occurs every now and then, anything.
If you sell electronic items on Ebay some buyers will buy your working item and return their faulty one. Ive had this happen on many items like xboxs and Phones.
If you dont make a note of the serial numbers and IMEI numbers then expect to have their broken item returned to you in place of yours
Empty box returns. Ive had numerous items returned in a empty box. I even had a VGA card returned to me in a box with a stone in it. as long as they have tracking number thats all that counts. Ive even seen people claim to have returned an item and use a tracking number thats not even for it but for something else
Ive sold Laptops that have been returned and gutted. All the components removed and the shell returned and there was nothing i could do about it.
Ive had Xboxs returned with inside components completely removed, ive even seen people replace the insides of my working xbox with components of a faulty one. therefore keeping the serial number the same.
Ive sold items that have left working and the buyers have broke them and then claim they arrived that way. Bad flashing of firmware ect
Ive sold collections of multiple items and only half were returned
Ive had people claim things arrived damaged and that they would either make you pay to collect it or give them a huge discount to keep it thus blackmailing you
when there is nothing wrong with it at all because most people would offer a discount to avoid the hassle
It has got to the point that ebay is full of scammers and i can no longer use it
As long as ebay gets its 10% fee it doesn't give a F and is not regulated by any UK authority
I for one will avoid using it anymore
/end rant
