Well I've tried the Idiots Guide, so now I'll ask for the Dumb F**ker's Guide. :silly:
Firstly, do I need to be subscribed to Now TV for this to work ?
Next, "Restart PMS" ? ...................... Restart it, feels like I've got it !!!
As I said DF's Guide, what is PMS ? :blushing:
Also, I keep getting a box (in fact they increase in number) with the title of C:\Program Files\Plex\Plex Media Server\PlexScriptHost.exe when I open up the Plex Media Server.
And just to top it all it now show a problem logging in.
I'm going to give it a break just now, but any advice or indeed the DF's Guide would be appreciated. :Laugh:

How to install Plex onto your Now TV box

1) Enable dev mode on your box by pressing:
HOME 3 times
UP 2 times
RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT

(if this doesn't work then make sure you are not leaving long pauses between button presses)

2) Enable developer mode on the screen that comes up.

3) Download Plex client for Roku from

4) Open web browser on your computer and open http:// (example. http://192.168.1.100)

5) Click browse and navigate to the Plex.zip you downloaded

6) Click the install button

7) Run plex


Install PLex media server to your pc with unsupported plugins

1) Download and install plex media server from here

2) Download the Plugin.bundle.zip from here

and extract the 'UnSupportedAppstore.bundle' to your desktop

3) Copy the 'UnSupportedAppstore.bundle' to C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Plug-ins\

4) Double click plex icon from status bar, when it opens page click the settings tab in the right hand corner and navigate to => Plex media server => Channels , tick the 'Disable compatability check' box

5) Restart (PMS) Plex media server on your pc and restart plex app on your now-tv box

6) Unsuported app store should apper above in the channels section

just a question guys,
how would you select things ie films to stream onto the box,would you do all the navigation
play,search etc on the pc then stream or can you do it via the box (saves gettin out of bed)

I think you have to subscribe (correct me if I'm wrong guys). But you do not have to pay, just click cancel at the screen where it asks for your card details and you should be sorted mate.

You need to register but not subscribe.

Registering will then allow you to add Sky Sports Day Passes or if you choose to do so, subscribe to NowTV.

I was lucky, I got a Quidco deal where the deal was:

£15 cashback
30 days free
3 months at £8.99 a month (reverting to £15 after)
5 free Sky Sports day passes (worth £9.99 each)

The deal is you get the 5 passes after month 2, so I am keeping it until the 3 months at £8.99 has passed. This means in total with the cashback it has cost about £12 but then again I do have £50 worth of Sky Sports passes to use before the year is out.

Register but don't subscribe. That deal has gone now but there is a chance something similar will come about. Once it does, register again with a different account and use those log in details on the box and to subscribe with.

From what im reading on the plex forum it seems it's not been working for a while & seems as though they need a developer for the plugin.

The code is *years* out of date. The plugin framework is no longer able to handle the backwards compatibility necessary for that plugin to run. It needs a major overhaul.

For those of you that like to mess with settings...

Here's a list of the hidden screens on the NowTV box. (I posted this earlier in the Boards.ie/bargain alerts thread on the Sky NowTV box)


Use this info at your own risk!
Apart from the sideload info (vital for Plex and who knows what else), the one to stop "pings" might be useful for some, and perhaps someday if Sky do something nasty in an update, one of the system resets might be of use.


This is from a U S site re Roku's but work ok for the NowTV box.




To access undocumented features of your Roku, enter the following key sequences on the remote. You should be at the home position before beginning with no errors on the screen. You need to press the keys fairly sharpish with no pauses.


Secret Screen (System Info, Resets, USB Test, Logging)

Fast Forward x3
Rewind x2


Platform Secret Screen (Temp, IP, SSID, WIFI Details)


(Per Roku Chat Support, Roku LT, Roku 2 XS, and Roku 3 all operate at 40-45 degree celsius)
