In one section of a driving test (say observation) how many minors can you have on that single part of the test before it becomes a serious fault?

I know it's upto 15 minors over the entire test but for a single section is it 4 or 5 before it's a serious?

yeah thats what i thought however a friend of mine had 5 and no serious.

When I was checking this, I found that some people had passed with a total of 17 minors,so it could be that the examiner is allowed to use his/her discretion.

yes i think if it a repeated minor on the same thing then the 4th one counts as major.

so i guess if your minors are not all the same then they would be fine.

you can have more than 3 minor faults in a certain topic .i.e mirrors without it becoming a serious fault.i just spoke to an examiner about this and he said it's dependent on the subject.:proud:

I recently passed my test with 3 minors,
I threw my exam notes away after so cant check. I only remember 15 minors being allowed. But it does make sense that if you failed a whole section then you don't really know what you're doing.

You can have up to 13 minors and no majors to pass a driving test,

However, 4 or more minors in one section will cause a major = fail

cheers

The driving part of your test will last about 40 minutes. Throughout the test your examiner will be looking for an overall safe standard of driving, including when you are carrying out the set exercises. You can make up to 15 driving faults and still pass the test (16 or more results in failure). However, if you commit one serious or dangerous fault you will fail the test.

How things have changed since i took my test. I passed 13 years ago and i was told that if i got 3 marks in any box it was a fail.

Imagine how gutted i was when i got in the car and before id even turned the key he put 2 marks on gears and 2 marks on clutch. I was a nervous wreck as it was and only 17. lol.

Hmm...I did my test 3 years ago and was told it was 13, Has it changed in the past 3 years then ?
it's been 15 for quite a few years now.longer than your 3 yrs ago.but maybe your instructor was pushing you and narrowed the amount to get you to concentrate more.if that was the case it worked!!:Smokin:

15 minors and on the 16th one its a fail. Also, some subjects allow 3 and some 4 then its a fail.

I remember, i took a fw shots to pass but on one occasion i had 0 minors and one serious, so failed that one. the one i did pass tho i had 14 minors!
