iPhone Iphone 3g Network unlock help please

I've just got my hands on a used Iphone 3g running 3.1.3 (7E18) Modem Firmware 05.12.01 that was used on Voda.

I put in my '3' network sim and didn't get any service and I couldn't find a carrier select button in the menu.

The phone works fine with a Voda sim, so my question is what do I have to do to get this working on '3' please ?

hi mate is ya phone jailbroken ,if it is this is what u need to do is add this source to cydia repo666.ultrasn0w.com click on it then rebbot the phone,

No mate it's not jailbroken in anyway , it's currently on Voda and I want to get it running on '3' network

hi mate back up the iphone in itunes , then use spirit to jb the iphone HERE this will put cydia on your iphone which inturn you will then be able to put the repo on u need to unlock your 3g

also download from HERE the original fw for your idevice just incase you need to restore in the future it will stop you restoring to the currunt fw of 4.1.

there is a way to go to 4.1 and use sn0wbreeze to make your own custom fw , but for now has its the unlock you want the 1st option is the easiest.

if u get stuck in any way mate pm me and we will take it a stage @ a time in msn just to let you know once jailbroken i had to unlock it twice , just make sure if you get to the stage of the unlock rebbot your iphone its important that bit , once rebooted wait and it should be unlocked ,

Biff , I'm having a small issue mate this is what I did.

Updated my 3g in Itunes to 4.1

Ran snowbreeze and created my own custom 4.1 ipsw and installed that

Ran cydia and used the ultrasnow prog to unlock the phone and rebooted

Prob I have now is that the phone just says "searching" all the time where the carrrier logo goes and when I go in to the network selection menu i get a message that says "unable to load network list"

Phone is now 4.1 (8B117) - Carrier says Three 8.0 and Modem is 05.14.02

I think I've updated the baseband is there any way back for me ?

that happened to me mate reunlock it again , using the ultra sn0w see how you get on my daughters iphone goes back to no service now and then , i just run ultrasn0w again then rebooted just try again

I've managed to get the phone working again using my voda sim

But whenever I put in the '3' sim I get 'searching' I think this is because the baseband is

running 05.14.02 and because the boot loader is 6.4 I can't run ultrasnow or fuzzy to unlock it.

I think.....

I'm going to be trying this soon as well when my contract runs out so my sister can have it mines on O2 at the moment and needs to be on Orange does it work on the latest update or have I got to down grade ???

when your contract runs out 02 will unlock for free me thinks

I brought an O2 phone from ebay and they charged £15 to unlock it. Don't know if the same applies if it is actually your handset?
