I've just been recommended this by the health shop near me, i just need to shift the last stubborn bit off my stomach, the health shop recommended i take 4mg of this a day with the thermobol i'm using, and just keep up my exercise (I run about 8-10km on my treadmill a day, once in the morning, once in the evening)

I don't know a lot about it, so any advice would be good.

Not personaly mate. But, I'm used to researching these kind of things as I've taken a fair few sups in the past so did an hours or so looking into this Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) stuff.

Looks like it works. And like most supps, people sell good ones and most sell shite batches. Apparently, about 80% of CLA caps on the market are blag (don't contain enough active ingredient). You should try and look out for a brand called Tonalin, which was the brand used in clinical trials.

It doesn't make large fat cells small, bit it makes small fat cells resistant from getting larger - seems to have a lot of other benefits as well. Looks quite good, wouldn't mind trying it myself but just afford such luxuries at the minute.

The other imporant thing which was said across most trials was the dose. This is the part most people who take supps fail on. For CLA to be effective, you must take 3.4grams a day, which is 4 x 1000mg capsuals, and you need to take them over a period of time, ie, you won't see benefits in a few weeks.

Here's a few links.

Hi mate - I guess you could also try the old hollywood celeb secret technique of using some 'Preparation H' hemarroid cream on your midsection too.

...and before you look at me like "WTF?!?" - yes I'm being serious and no i'm not taking the mick!

Prep H is formulated to draw water out so you apply the cream or gel to your midsection and it draws the water out so it gives your abs that shredded ripped look (assuming you had pretty decent abs to start with and you just want the final super-ripped look?)

Personally i've never done it and so I don't know details like how many times a day you do it or how much cream you put on - you can search the web for this sort of info I suppose.

But it is a known technique that i've heard that hollywood celeb trainers use with their clients - e.g. starting the Prep H regime a couple of weeks before the client is due to do a photoshoot or music video where they'll have their shirt off.

Obviously there's NO substitute for exercise, eating well and living right - BUT i guess if you need to fine-tune your abs before you go topless on the front of Mens Health magazine or something like that, then it could be a good aid.

Let us know if you decide to try it mate - if you do, maybe you could do updates here and let everyone know if it actually works and you finish with the washboard abs of steel!!!

Sesamin is supposed to work well with CLA.

If someone tries this could they log their progress as I plan on bulking for as long as comfortable this year.

Right, I've decided to take the plunge today, I'm taking 4000mg of Tonalin (bought from my local GNC store,in the womens section :), I'm going to take 1 with breakfast, 1 with lunch and two 30 minutes before exercise in the evening with my thermobol.

I have a very good diet, and i run about 5km a night on the treadmill, after the treadmill i do my usual ab exercises for 20 mins.

My start weight is 14st12lb and in an ideal world i want to get down to just above 14st, it's not purely about the weight it's more about the shape, as my only bad bit is a little paunch that i'm hoping to remove with this routine.

I'll keep you informed on how it goes on a weekly basis.

They have to be taken with food mate... Lets us know how it goes...

First weekly weigh in, i've lost 2lb, and feel lighter round the middle.
I'm not sure if this is related to do with the CLA, or the fact i've started walking in the morning, I've added an early morning walk to the treadmill routine, it's only about 2k but i do it on an incline of 4.

i'll see how it goes over the next couple of weeks, but so far all's good!!

Been doing a bit more reading on CLA and it all sounds good.

Apparently it is naturally accuring in meat and cheese, from animals that chew on grass. But becasue of the processed food movement, animals not been ablle to grow naturally and being fed on dry feed mixes, CLA appears a lot less in your natural diet than it did before the 70's.

Isn't science great, such a benefit to society!

So this could also be a contributor to the obessiety crisis. People think eating organicly etc is just a fashion and more about flavour than anything, but thinking about it I think, you just don't know what these scientists are doing to our food... they are clueless.

Taking the results of around 200 studies on CLA, they all point that people who take a CLA sup and don't change their diet or exercise schedual, lose weight and put on muscle, but the weight loss and muscle gains are exasibated by eating healthily and subscribing to an exercise plan.

The results definetly point towards you having to take CLA on a regular basis for a number of months before you start seeing results. This is why people heavily into bodybuilding take supp other than CLA for faster results.

Where's people buying it from?

I looked in a few places but it didn't seem too cheap :(.

I read later today that it affects rats differently for some reason.
