I noticed this on OpenVix forum:

With immediate affect we're sorry to say there will be no more support for any XP1000 images and all plugin feeds for these have been taken offline and will be deleted. These feeds have been getting abused by a number clones.

I believe most current Zgemma range of boxes, use the OpenVix XP1000 image but modified for most (if not all) Zgemma range of boxes.

If you are using OpenVix on a Zgemma box and you have found your feeds no longer work, you currently have the following options:-

  • Keep to current image and accept that you can no longer use OpenVix plugin feed system. Manually installing plugins (where these exist) should still work. No updates to image will be available.
  • Switch image to that of OpenATV or another image that officially supports the zgemma range of boxes.

It should be noted that officially the Zgemma range of boxes are NOT clones and are supported by a variety of other images. However, OpenVix do not accept (or agree) that Zgemma range of boxes are now official.

There maybe other options that Zgemma can do so that OpenVix still works but that is for Zgemma themselves to look at (if at all).

OpenVix never supported Zgemma to start with. They're just trying to stop (or at least make it harder) for Zgemma boxes to have OpenVix on them.

As for Zgemma, numerous other images are officially supported for the Zgemma range of boxes.

The Zgemma range are officially supported by many other image providers the loss of a patched image is not worth bothering about

Personally i think that the Openatv firmware is far superior to the vix versions available on the zgemma range of boxes.
Far more structured and user friendly and maybe now the dummy's out of the pram then more people will switch and realise.

This is not correct. But people always intepret things how they want to.

The plugin server has been very unreliable for over a week now. Two server changes have been tried but people are still struggling to get to the plugins. It turns out that within a few hours there were 40+ GB of downloads, majority for the XP1000.

The default background check downloads Packages.gz every 6 hours. This has just been changed to 24 hours. Obviously existing images will still try to download every six hours. Not 100% sure what the 7362 Zgemma receivers masquerade as, but you'd think they would disable the background check on patched images.

Always best to use an unpatched image if you can. The Zgemma range is also supported by OpenPLI. It is very lean. They have just added the numbers on Graphical EPG.

This will explain why i cant access plugins on my xtrend.
40GB within a few hours :FRIGHT:

AutoBouquetsMaker.
I suppose a lot of users will want to use AutoBouquetsMaker. The plugin is not built as into the images, but it s available to install on OpenPLI as well as all OE-A images such as OpenATV.

Virgin EPG:
The Virgin EPG setting is disabled on those images, just enable them.

CrossEPG Downloader:
PLI hate CrossEPG downloader. Maybe someone can fork Lavaman's version of CrossEPG (for 28.2 OpenTV EPG) and supply a bitbake file to OpenPLI so that they can build it. Other manufacturer's have supplied changes for OpenTV epg aspect within CrossEPG. XMLTV importer will do the same thing as "RyVix". It is actaully better as you do not lose control of receiver.

CoolTV
Perhaps someone can ask the person looking after the plugin/website if they can accept the changes to support SNPicons. It is a closed source plugin. OpenPLI will not accept an unoffcially adapted one. Best if people can install things directly using receiver.

I interpret things based on information available to hand at time. Nothing was mentioned re the volume of traffic for the XP1000 just that it's used for clones.

Vix make no secret that they don't like clones (which is fine and I understand that) and I appreciate that is a lot of traffic for what is technically a little used box (as far as XP1000 is concerned).

I do agree though using a patched image especially designed for another box isn't wise.

Sometimes though it could be just the server can't handle volume of traffic as other image teams don't appear to have this issue and some of them support a wider range of boxes.

I agree, there's nothing special or better about Vix images than many other images that are available and officially supported.
Theres no need to use a patched vix image on the Zgemma range when there's plenty of other officially supported options like OpenPli , OpenATV etc...
Vix is just the marketing tool of WoS where they spread false information and scaremongering stories to persuade people not to buy recievers that they dont officially sell via WoS..
Does anyone still still believe their BS story that Zgemma are clone recievers...when OpenPLI and OpenATv officially support the recievers and have confirmed that the recievers are based on Air Digitals own designs, OpenPLI have also confirmed that they have direct contact tothe chineese developers regarding drivers and bootloaders and support/feedback is good. The thread can be found on OpenPli forums.

does this apply to vix4 blue images , or are they on a different plugin server.

Could always go with an edision mini which is around the same price as a zgemma and its fully supported by openvix and 2 year warranty,Maybe sell the zgemma to a mate

A better box all round,Pretty quick to,Look on WOS for the spec

Just PM me if you need any help,Have set up hundreds of boxes
