Hi,

I have been messing around with the H1 and am still continuing to do so with the Vix image and various plug ins.

What I want to do is once I am happy with the setup, I want to replicate it onto a second box for my brother and then a third for my father. Each with their own lines.

Can someone advise how to go about this, can I create a flash backup of the image and settings or do I have to do this separately?

This way, I can also keep a return to my settings option if I try something and it doesn't work out for me.

Thanks all

Vix has a inbuilt full image backup and settings backup options but backups made with it can miss out some of the files needed to flash back, force file for example.

Try a plugin called backupsuite never fails me.

Thanks,

Does that save my special details too?

Can I backup without that so that when I put on the next box it won't have my details in?

Only if you remove you details before the full backup if not then your details will be included.

easiest way ,
make the backup,
flash the box with the latest
and use the backup to go back to your full set up

When you make a backup with VIX it doesn't make 2 files, the kernel and the noforce. When you try to flash the backed up image from a stick it needs these 2 files.
You can add these 2 files manually if you want (they have been posted up on the forum) and flash from the stick which I founds out later.

What I did was , I made a backup image to a usb stick with the backup manager in "VIX" then flash the box with the latest VIX image then add the stick with the backed up image on it to the box and reinstall the full backed up image. If you do it this way you don't need the noforce and the kernel

I tried to install the plugin you mentioned but was unable to find it in the plugins list.

With the inbuilt one, there is an image manager and a backup manager, can some tell the differences between the two.

Thanks

Image manager take a full back up of image and settings, back uo manager just backs up settings plugings ect

I want to perform the backup on my box this evening.

I have a USB attached to the rear, do I need to remove this to insert a new USB for backup? Can I use the frint USB port?

No it will use that usb if you map the backup program to use it or you can insert another usb and map the backup to make it on the new usb. Better to retrieve the image from the backup location via FTP anyway.

Does that mean I create the backup with the USB I currently use. Then FTP the image to my PC.

Do I need to then remove the image from the USB to avoid it flashing after a reboot?

Yes your current USB will be fine.

No real need to remove as its inside a folder that will not be recognised for flashing, the reasons to remove it would be to save space and keeping it tidy.

I have tried to find backup suite but was unable to find it through plugins. Can anyone advise?

Also I did a backup through vix and the settings one worked but the image one got stuck on 18%, I've read there is a work around but can't find the work around, has anyone been able to do this?

Thanks Ferret

I tried this but when it went to make the backup I got the error no receiver found. This may be because the Zgemma is not supported on OpenVix?

I see some people have uploaded their backups, can you they advise how they created them please.

They will of done them with the inbuilt backup options. The freeze you getting when backing up could be a flash drive issue try another.
