OpenVix or OpenATV

Hi All,

I am new to this so please be gentle.

I just received my H1 and am looking to have a play this evening.

I wanted to ask which would be the reccomended firmware. ATV or VIX. I understand ATV is officially supported whereas the VIX is a patched version. As an end user what does this mean.

I checked the official downloads page for the box and can see that there are several versions/updates from this month alone, once I flash my box and a new update is out, does this mean re-flash or can it be updated from box ditrectly.

Vix is easyer to set up and use atv is more stable if its just watching tv,recordings id say vix

Theres a backup i made in the download section for the H1 of vix hades 008, if u wait a hour or so ill be updating it to vix 010

I've not trued vix. I'm using the ATV. Rock solid for me. I have the openatv 5.0 on my box. I'm just very wary of vix team. There used to be so many updates ages ago that I didn't trust it. So I've never tried it because of that reason only.

I've just seen you've added this, if I use this image I am assuming I will need to modify some settings with my details. Adding my special details and also netowrk ID?

Can you give me a quick guide on what I need to do to setup and go please

The Vix image is patched though isnt it ,its not officially supported .
Whats it patched from the Xpeed Lx2 ?

With ATV can you still get the auto bouquet and EPGs?

Yes you do.

Yes. They are there.

I use OpenATV 5 it's officially supported so at least you know you can do online updates without worrying about bricking your box etc.
Also with the vix images the front display doesn't work on the Zgemma recievers.

what is the difference between OpenATV 4.2 and 5.0?
Seems both are still receiving updates, I thought one was old and one was new.

4.2 is currently the Official Stable image 5.0 is still in Test phase

I personally find OpenATV 5 just as stable as 4.2 .
