Is it possible to change the HD in a softmoded Xbox and put a larger one in?

Many Thanks

Yes it is, you will need to trick the xbox into unlocking the drive by hotswapping the replacement ( swaping them when the console is powered in) you need an app called chimp and a molex power splitter, connect splitter and boot up xbox. Disconnect dvd drive and plug in larger hdd, run chimp and select clone/copy partitions - you will need to change the jumper to either slave or cable select. When finished the copying go back to menu and select lock hdd , when locked then power down and swap new hdd to master position, boot up and if new hdd is bigger than 250gig you will need to format the extended partitions with xbpartitioner. With an ide-sata adapter you can go up to 2tb should you wish.

Hi,

Are there any known issues when upgrading to a sata type hard drive. I was thinking of installing possibly a 1tb sata drive.

the original xbox is IDE. havnt heard of anyone using an adapter but it may be possible. i think u would need drivers for the adapter though

I can confirm using a sata-to-ide adapter generally works, no drivers needed, but I've read that some brands of adapters don't, no idea why.

i using a YUV cable, my XBOX (Chiped) runs whith the XBMC. On NTSC Mode...576p? No problem :)
