Hi guys,

I just bought a second-hand Xbox 360 which was sold as chipped and came with numerous backup discs games which all work fine.

The question I have is I have no idea if it's a jtag or rgh mod. Also the console only has standard Xbox menu nothing like dashboard or even no xexmenu in games.

I want to know if I can play games from the hard drive and also is it possible go install freestyle dashboard without knowing what type of mod is installed?

Sorry being a noob in this field I'm a little lost and apologies for what may seem basic questions

Thanks

well if you have no dashboard or even no xexmenu the console would just of have the DVD Drive flashed with CFW

best way to check is to power up the console by pressing the eject on the DVD drive and see if it boots XeLL Reloaded

this will only show up if your using AV cable

Thanks spud for your reply.

Unfortunately I don't have a av lead. But say I attempt to install the xexmenu and the console only has the cfw flash for the DVD drive would this cause issues?

My main aim to play from the hard drive, but I guess if it's only a DVD drive flash then I guess that may not be an option.

no issues but you will not be able to install xexmenu in the first place

if you know how to take the case off , have a check to see if you have a chip installed (rgh)

on mine i installed the chip and can see a red light inside looking in the vent holes

jtag will be wires onto the pcb no red light

is it a phat xbox ?

check and see what dashboard version its running on

Can you not check your dashboard version in settings.To have a jtag do you need to be on a certain dashbord version?I think your better off burning discs or useing an xkey because you can use xbox live,I still burn discs

Burn the xexmenu img on a dvd and see if it boots,

Link

If it boots then your jtaged or rgh'ed.

If it does grab a copy of dash launch and run that it will tell you in the bottom right the hack version ie rgh version or jtag, and the motherboard version.

or
grab xexmenu.xex and put it on a usb stick (rename it to default.xex)

Make a file launch.ini save the below in a text file and save a launch.ini, put that in the root of the usb stick

[QuickLaunchButtons]
Default = Usb:\default.xex
BUT_X = Hdd:\XeXMenu\default.xex
BUT_Y = Hdd:\

If neither of these work it may be it has just the drive hacked and no rgh/jtag.
