Guys, ive got an external hdd (ntfs does it need to be fat32?) with iso's on so do i plug this into xbox then go to file manager find iso and it will jsut read it and play?

ok n00b partition a 32gb area on external hdd - get isogod then then convert to god file onto hdd - plug into xbox

Or use Acronis Disk Director 11 Home and format fat32 using all of the drive space!

or do it in DOS

If you look in the Xbox downloads section, there is a tool for formatting in fat32.

I use "Xbox_Image_Browse_v2.9.0.350" to extract the iso files. There are other ways too.

Cheers i was just being lazy, all the info's there if you look and research it properly, apparently you can just download the god file to save you from having to convert it.

ok you have to use imgburn to create an .iso file off your burned disc on the pc, then use xboxbackupcreator to extract the game files into a folder from the iso file, copy that folder onto your external hdd

It just seems to think its a normal dvd, i tired the game path thing in the video but doesnt seem to read the games, the original dvds work fine though.

You have not said what's been done to your new console. I am guessing you have n RGH with a flashed drive. Looks like I am mistaken

Sorry - Its a new rgh slim s with my original hdd from my old fat xbox - my old xbox had flashed dvd drive which played the burned dvds this new one doesnt.

The new slim s doesnt have flashed dvd drive to my knowledge i didnt think it needed it?

Unlocking the drive can add to cost so possibly why. Anyway, you know how to make the backups.

With regarsd to playing the games on your fat32 HDD, what location did you save your games to on the HDD?

Ok heres the current setup - 4Gb internal mem - 20Gb internal hdd removed from fat xbox - has my profile and my saved games, now adding a 500Gb external hhd with games folder - although the names just show up as alpha-numeric characters - can i manuall re-name the folders and they will show up correctly on the xbox? or if add the path to the games folder as shown in your earlier youtube clip, and it will detect and add names / icons in my games section? will it also pick my saved games from then content folder on my internal 20Gb hdd? or do i need to copy them over to the 4gb mem or 500Gb hdd?

Appreciate all you advise so far

You can specify multiple locations for your games content. i.e one path for internal HDD and another for the external. A common kistake people make after adding path is not to press on "save" once they have added the path.

When you extarct extract a game, you can name the folder. Normally people have a Games folder. You extract the games (in their own folders) into the games folder. If you have added the Games folder to your contentsm, all teh games will be found.

For the internal HDD, you must add the "content" folder. That is normally where all the games are stored. If your external hdd is a 2.5 sata drive, you should really be looking at making it nternal before you load all your games on it. You should be able to move your profile from 20GB to internal memory.

pretty much done now - next will be updating xexmenu and dashboard - i'll watch loads of youtube first before posting questions.
