After my last attempt at updating my jtag which nearly ended in tears, could someone post an idiots guide on how to update to this new dash,F3 from TeamFSD please?

Cheers

Have you already updated to system dash 16197 and also applied avatar updates?

burn the iso to a cd and run it. tick all the boxes and install that should b you
when you scan for where your games are dont do anything else just let it do its thing or it will crash.
link to iso

So I don't have to uninstall FSD2 first and do a 'fresh install' as suggested on realmodscene?Do I let it do a scan for my games location, not sure if I've read that right?

Cheers for the replies

if you use the installer and tick all the boxes it will delete it all for you.
after it has done all that you point it to where your games are just like before.
when it is doing the scan and downloading covers leave it alone, let it do its thing dont play about with anything when it is doing this.
if you have more than 1 location to scan let the first location scan before you scan for the next if you get what im saying.

I've just done a "youtube" walk through, bit long winded the way I have to do it as I don't have a DVD drive in mine so had to mess about with a usb key and install xex menu and then ftp freestyle and dashlaunch etc....wish I'd kept a drive in it now.

Me mate has one that he needs to do, is there any way that it can be installed without losing all the saves/info etc.

In the tut it suggests that you don't so I have broke the news to him.

Sorry Oily, what dashboard is it on mate. and have you got a copy of your nand safe and your CPU key....

saves and that will still be there mate its the covers and all that that get deleted

just it says.......

1) This is a fresh Software package, do not install overtop of your existing FSD.
*** WARNING *** IT WILL DELETE YOUR EXISTING DB AND YOUR CONTENT WILL NOT LINE UP PROPERLY.

saves are in another directory nothing to do with f3 they will all still be there.
f3 handles covers and stuff different from f2.
f3 loads covers and stuff way faster than the old dash.

its like when you deleted your old db on f2 your saves where all still there mate remember

yip I agree they load way faster.

Just that bit doesn't make sense, do not install over the top?

I need a disc to burn it to now and try it

Do I need to update the dash to 16197 to run the F3 dashboard?
If I do then I don't think I'll bother Dibbers if it's going to be anything like last time, lol

I have today mate, honest dead easy, easier than last time....

I used this and it was a breeze.

XeBuild GUI 2.085 : xeBuild 1.05, DashLaunch 3.04 and 16197 kernel support added

(Your going to have to at some stage...lol)

Me mate was running the new cod today and he's on a really old dash and the old FSD2 I think so no, depends what you want I guess mate.

if you use XeBuild GUI 2.085

All you need to do is

1) load your nand
2) load your CPU key
3) create the image

then it'll create the update file that you copy onto the root of a FAT 32 formatted memory stick and then power on with eject.

Once xell has been updated then all you need to do is install the 16197 $sytem update to get your avatars back.

Then from then I think there's an auto ISO of the new FSD that will install and run FSD and also DashLaunch.

I've had to do mine the old fashined way (and probably the longer way) usijng FTP and xex menu.

Youtube vid is taking a while...it is 3 gig and another mind bending 15 minutes long...covers everything from a virgin machine to the new FSD. I'm sure it will help in ways as it'll show you what "dashLaunch" options and the like are out there as well as ALL installation from Xell to FSD..

Cheers Dibbers,I'll give it a go tomorrow, for now I'll go shoot some zombies on COD BOII ;)

Oily send me your nand dump and cpukey and i`ll make you a new image in jrunner.

this is like ground hog day from about the same time last year no? lol....
