E82 on a slim.....

Chaps asking me if I'd fix his slim, states that it's booting up and then going to RROD and the E82 error, what are they like for a repair, I've only ever looked at one and haven't even taking one apart, I was thinking that I'd just thermal paste change it and then put it back together, I've asked if it's still under warranty and he says it's not......any one done a repair on them?

I don't repair them anymore as the usual problem is the chips lifted off the board as the boards warped, a reflow when the boards warped never lasted.

yeah thanks mate, I've had good results and bad results over the years, I was just wondering if they are like the X-clamp for the older ones, the repairs that is. if it's booting up and working for a little while then I was thinking of the heat sink paste like.

Obviously that's from phats when they were on separate BGA's and not a single die.

Error code probably is the same, so GPU High Speed Input/Output related.
