Hiya,

just to post in a new more relevant window rather than my older post.

I've just attempted to flash for first time in a while, and I'm attempting to use JF on an old celeron 1333mhz machine (always worked fine up to and including the benq drive using the older dos, maximus etc software)

The chipset on the pci sata card being a via6421.

Anyways. I did as instructed removing the via driver and installing portio (portio would not install from the exe so followed the manual install). I have also since tried putting the via drivers back on and removing the portio to no avail.

When I launch JF, the machine does not pick up any drives (only the IDE cdrom if its plugged in).

If on the Winapi I choose ports on the left side, I get nothing by scrolling all way through them. If using portio, I scroll down, but eventually a couple of them cause my screen to go black and the machine then dies needing a reboot?

Any help please? I am right in thinking I'm NOT meant to use slax to get the drive to work in windows or anything? as the guide on jf site seems to imply that I should just switch on the drive when XP is loaded before launching JF?

well I was thinking that myself (whilst getting out a backup plan Dell GX760 work pc with external sata to test)

was thinking surely it must have been needed to see it in first place...but this bit in this guide http://www.jungleflasher.net/files/JungleFlasher.pdf threw me off ...that it has the bit saying how to set it to mode B by pressing the button in JF (so why would it need to be set to mode B then switch it to mode b in jf also?)

Of course I'm just burning the slax disc right now to check mind - suspect its me being a noob as normal :)

Try a different sata port.

thanks...tho in the end I got around it last night when I was using winapi drivers and Slax disc.

So am I right in thinking though, that if I was to be using the PortIO and it was working properly, that I wouldnt need to use the slax disc at all? Or do the guides generally not refer to the use of a slax disc based on the presumption that you'd have had some sort of ck3 or maximus to switch to modeb for you?

errr which one lol.....

being 1) that you still have to use modeB (either by slax or or CK3 etc switch) -

or 2) being if working u dont need to use the slax or ck3 switch :)

that if everything is working correctly JF should do everything you need to do mate i use JF and also have the ck3pro but havent used the modeB button often

aha thanks - well at least my boss's box is flashed (albeit not playing backups till I try the pot fix hopefully) - when my maximus xtractor comes I'll have to try getting the Portio to work again seeing as I'll be doing a liteon with a via6421 then :) Tho hopefully if that fails I could perhaps try using the spare work Dell GX760 pc with its nice easy access external sata...though not sure what sata chipsset that one uses
