I have an Hitachi v47 drive which I have flashed with Firmware toolbox ver 4, backed up the original firmware etc. Everything looked to have flashed succesfully but I can't get my backup games to work. It just says 'disc tray'. The originals still work ok though. They have been burnt with a Samsung D162 drive flashed with Kreon, set to booktype DVD +R, and everything said burned successfully. The only thing I can think is when I got to the point just before you click 'read and detect differences' when you check for your drive their were two options for hitachi drives v30-50 i think it was? (V12 and V16) so I went for V12. Does anyone know if I have used the correct firmware, and if so has anyone any ideas where I have gone wrong?

thanks

Why not just download the games? :)

thanks for the replies.

I reckon it is the booktype that is wrong but I have a NEC 4570 and I have tried reflashing with updated firmware to enable bit setting but still can't get it to show DVD-ROM in IMG burn it is still saying DVD +R DL??

If I download don't I still need to burn as a DVD-ROM typr though?

thanks chaps

..just burnt a backup game on my NEC 4570 which is definitely a DVD-ROM type and it still comes up with 'open tray' on the XBOX. could this be a firmware version problem or is it more likely to be a DVD burning problem?

thanks

mate just use clone booktype is preasstoric now your just complicating yourself
get your self clone load the .dvd file and burn at 1x 2x or 4x 1x being the most reliable

has nobody mention or asked what disks he,s using? he may be burning correctly but i notice he,s got a shitachi, there fussy buggers with disks, i had one and expensive disks wouldnt work but the cheapest aone disks do work, its all about the dye used on the disks, try using some different disks, to rule out anything use verbs first and see if they work, i have a feeling if there burning correctly and then your just getting open tray or any other error it may be the disks, try to rule that out.

or just buy a pioneer and use imageburn there only 22 quid and you cant go wrong there with settings as it auto bookmarks with the pioneer burners.

Totally agree with Thommohawk, try different discs.

thanks again chaps for the replies... I have ordered a Pioneer 112D for £20 but in the meantime I am having a go with a Lite On LH20A, manually set to DVD-ROM and burning with IMGBurn that I have borrowed with the same Arita (Rirek dye disks). If I still get no joy I am gonna try the Verbs as you suggest.
So you reckon that my 'flashed' Xbox is OK seeing as it will play the originals still OK?

cheers
