As far as I know mate its upto the games publishers if they lock a game or not. once a game is locked you'l need an 360 from that region if you wanna play - or wait for the pal release

I use this site for reion info

h**p://www.xbox-sky.com/xbox360_regional_compatibility_guide/

games are either region patched or region free.

if it's locked, then well, sorry, it's locked.

but a good site to check on games and there region compatibility is 360 checker

generally you cannot "convert software" which is what you asked,
compiled games etc are well, compiled, You can't go back and make a boiled egg from scrambled eggs. So unless you get hold of the source code and you know the finer points of video standards - yer outta luck.

The second part of the answer is that you can *sometimes* get a (say) NTSC film or game to run if the player application can also handle the output streams in different formats eg PAL, SECAM. NTSC etc. a combination of soft and hardware is needed.

The region thing is something I'll leave to the experts.

right cheers I just wondered cos on the ps2 it was a simple process of changing region .. so its no go at the mo .. i was thinking extract the iso and patch it or something

unfortunaly not. unlike the ps2 and xbox chips/flashes that allow you to run unsigned code. the 360 still needs the files to be signed with a ms key.

the f/ware just puts the unreadable sectors in a place on the disk that are readable (hence why can copy a backup with clone but not an orig)

if you patched the file and made it region free. you would also need to resign the files to work. this sounds a whole lot easer then it actaully is.

if one day were able to run unsigned code on the 360. then patching would be easy. but would also open the door to homebrew apps (XMBC 360 for example)

unfortunaly the level of protection that ms incorpated into the 360 means this could still be a long way of comeing. :( but we all hope and prey.
