I have had bother getting kodi on through adbfire. If you install esfile manager , download kodi through the manager and install it that way you should be ok.

never had any issues with adb used daily

Hi thanks I shall pass on the info to the guy but my question was I not used the firestick in 18 mths and its not updated you would have thought soon as you switch on all the updates would come through.

I can only ussume the updates stoped kodi from being installed one way. But it doesn't matter if esfile manager is used

no reason for it not to work mate run stick let it take all updates may take a little while then install kodi or whatever will be fine took days for a couple to update here not instant mate

Surely it will still work as the manufacturer wouldn't have any idea as to how long they will sit in warehouses etc. so having cut-off dates for updates wouldn't work.

yip it will work your mate had one too many lol just do it

I installed kodi 17 on firestick using adb that had not be used for 8 months.

Don't know what updates he talking about if he means Amazon ones that will happen once you connect to WiFi. I still have a firestick from black Friday unopened I was going to pass it on to one my relatives but looks like everyone has already got one lol.

BTW if it's unopened it can hardly be described as not fit for purpose.

If your looking to get shot of it....;)

I think his mates at it lol, not fit for purpose means to anybody but him. :proud:

Hey maybe off topic, but if anyone has a spare firetv stick and wants to sell it to me Pm me :)

it shouldnt matter just try it

ADB fire still works great sideloaded kodi 17 onto first gen and second gen fire stick recently and also managed to sideload a vpn.apk with adbfire.

you dont even need adb to get kodi 17, it can be downloaded direct to the stick using firetvguru through esexplorer.

On a side note, anybody got any spare remotes for the firesticks? £15 for a replacement from Amazon.

Adb can also be used to back up your build and install builds. Great for installing Apks as well.

adb is all i ever use with no issues at all cant fault it
