I have router supplied by talk talk. its ok

is there any benefits in buying my own router rather than using what they have given me?

Wifi is a bit hit n miss in certain parts of the house and just asking as it would improve by

buying one off the shelf.

Some help on which would be the best one to buy if the case to be true

Typically what ISP's give you are not the best routers.

I remember when I was with Virgin Media, and their SuperHub was shockingly poor. Even their engineers said so.
Their solution was to turn their router into a modem and use an external router.

So if you are facing issues with poor signal around the house, buying a decent router will help.

If you are looking into getting your own router then I would recommend a netgear one as they are relatively easy to set up.

If you have adsl broadband you will need a adsl router.
if you have a bt open reach modem you will need a cable router, which has a wan port on the back.
