I put a vuvsolo box in for my mum and it works perfect. It was connected using a power line adaptor but when plugged in via Ethernet to the router it stops laptops and phones using wifi.

you literally remove Ethernet from hub and wifi is ok. I've tried different plugs, I've ran a long Ethernet cable over the floor.. I've tried my bt hub 4 thinking the Ethernet block on plus net hub was dodgy. Works but same issue.

I've tried a wifi adaptor which requires wps but doesn't connect.

this is so very strange. Can anyone offer even a wild guess what could be causing this conflict...

Similar thing happened to my extrend not so long ago.
Turns out it was mgcamd doing something to the network to a point were my asus router stopped working.
So i uninstalled mgcamd and deleted my cline, then reinstalled them all and it was fine. it happened after restoring settings and plugins from a backup after reflashing my box, so i can only assume it was a corrupt mgcamd file causing the problem.

Is the box setup as DHCP or Static in the network settings.

One possible issue could be conflicting IPs. If your device is setup static and it just happens to have the same IP as another device that could cause issues. But not sure if it'll create the issue you're speaking of.

Download wireshark free and let it help diagnose when your problem is.
