Hi. I am with talktalk. I have a EchoLife HG532 router. I am trying to use the timeblocks in mac filtering.
It says
Source MAC address:
Destination MAC address:

I put my laptop mac address in destenation (i have tried it in the source as well), then enable timeblock.
I click accept but i can still browse the net even though its on "reject"

Any help please

Hello mate and welcome to DW, what is it for, content filtering? are complete lock down from connecting to the net at times given that you'd like to do?

Is the time correct on the Router it's self?

There's ways to block content before it even makes it into your house, all depends what your wanting to do....

i want to block my son from going onto his laptop (wireless) at certain times but still be able to go onto my computer. I have done everything it says in the router manual. Do i have to fill in both the.....
Source MAC address:
Destination MAC address:
If so, what would be the source and what would be the destination
Thanks in advance

can you find your wi-fi mac and use that as source and then the mac address of the laptop as destination?

What about static IP addresses, has it got any thing in there to be able to block it using the IP range?

I have a similar screen as you can see, access restrictions etc. various different ways to block access. is it only by mac that you can block?

thanks for you help so far. I cannot use IP address as its not static plus there is no time blocks to choose. Please see attached a screen shot. The address i have put in are not the real one though. its just to give you an idea how it looksrouter.jpg

ah I see, you could all ways give the machine a static IP address, how ever if you haven't got any Time restrictions for blocking them other than the mac, then no point, what about changing that small "d" to a captial "D".

And is your date and time right on the router, it's not set to pacific or some other time zone?

Must be down to the mac address then, when you say "this is the mac address of the laptop" is that the wi-fi mac address your using?

I've got this HG532 router with TalkTalk too, a proper bag of sh1te it is too. I had all sorts of fun and games just enabling the DMZ! I've justed logged into my router and checked the time and date, they aren't setup to have the correct time or date so the configuration needs to be changed.

To do this, log into your router and go to the Advanced section and then SNTP, and put a tick in "Enable auto syncronization with network time" and then use the settings shown in the attached image which i just applied to my router successfully (quite surprised how straight forward this was with this router). You will then need to click on submit and reboot the router for the correct time and date to show on the router.

Just change the time zone via the drop down menu to fix this.

Hi all,

I wonder if anyone can help me. I'm using v3.03 of the firmware. I'm trying to use MAC filtering to create a whitelist of MAC addresses that I know are allowed to access the net (for both wired and wireless connections). For the source MAC field I use the MAC address of the device and for the destination MAC I use the routers MAC address and I set status to accept for each one I create. Is this correct?

Shouldn't the firewall reject any MAC that is not whitelisted? Or do I need to create a new rule, if so can someone tell me how to do this. Unfortunately, I'm able to see larger versions of the pictures in this thread as I just joined the forum.

Lastly does anyone know about the how priority field is interpreted. Are the mac filtering rules prioritized low to high or high to low?

Cheers and thanks in advance.

p.s. I don't see a screen for access restrictions. I'm trying to do this thorugh the firewall settings.
