I have a dual band wireless router and was wondering how safe it would be if i set the guest access for people walking past my house to use.

Whilst thinking about this I thought that I would call my guest access w*w.digitalworldz.co.uk PM Wenglishboy for password.

Apart from advertising my fave of all sites, I thought that this would also help the DW community to grow. Maybe in the future when these routers become the bog standard and if a few members joined in then when new people logged in they would be able to get the password from a sticky thread or get it in a welcome message to the site etc.

I live on a very active street and a lot of folk have theyre dinner times etc around my house while im at work so what do you guys in the know think about that? My router will only be standing idle whilst im at work anyhow.

The members of this site have shared a lot of theyre knowledge with me for free... And I just want to give something back to the site and any new members etc.

With most routers its probably not a good idea as they are mostly simple things so any 'guest' would likely end up as part of your internal network and thus have access to all your connected devices.

To do the job with any security you would need to be able to set up virtual subnets and be fairly savvy when it comes to setting up firewall rules and the like.

As i thought then nope... I am going to name the guest ssid as w*w.digitalworldz.co.uk anyway just to advertise the site, with @ least a 30letter/number password so nobody can access it.
