Hi,

Ive been asked to setup a kiosk based wifi hot spot and was wondering if anyone has any good/cheap software solutions? Ive found software on the net but before I go ahead thought Id ask the question here.

Thanks!

wireless router/ap which has multiple vlans and the capability to limit throughput/b

Hey,

well it was going to be a wireless hotspot for a holiday cottage site. But they have since come back and said that they want a free wireless solution. And so I am now looking for a wireless router/ap which has multiple vlans and the capability to limit throughput/bandwidth.

Apologies for the confusion - currently looking at a Netgear - WG103 which can do the multiple bssid's but not too sure about the thorughput side.

Any ideas?
Thanks

I think open WRT has got some stuff in there to manage bandwidth across multiple subnets

Else you can look at PC based solution (something like IPCop) to manage this but it would then require multiple WAP's I think

Cool thanks, prob go for a device with it built in rather than firmwaring an old netgear as it wont be me manageing it. Seems easier to setup 2 ssid's and then allocate a bandwidth to each.
